B-YS scholarship recipient Gabriel Lavin will deliver a talk on Zoom about Adeni music towards the end of the colonial period. At that time music was subject to a large and diverse set of influences from both Aden’s cosmopolitan population and also from wider political influences of the time – Egypt, the Gulf and of course northern musical traditions from Sana’a.
