2014 Academic Grant Scholar – Maria-Louise Clausen – Aarhus University

Maria-Louise Clausen is a Ph.D. Fellow at the Department of Political Science, University of Aarhus, Denmark, and formerly a visiting Ph.D. student at the Department of Politics, School of Oriental and African Studies, London. She studied Political Science, Anthropology, and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Southern Denmark, Richmond University, USA, and the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Her principal research interests lie in the field of state-building and the use of fragile state terminology, with a particular focus on the Middle East. Her PhD thesis analyzes state-building in Yemen as a multilevel process, taking place on both central and decentral levels, and involving both state and non-state actors.
